The media, fitness, and commerce all have one important thing in common: they started out as physical industries, went through a phase of digitisation, and then settled on a hybrid model that connects the online and offline.
Media was originally static, one-way distribution of information, then moved online to gain personalisation, and is now two-way interaction that enables the sharing of content at scale by anyone - I.e., social media (Facebook, Google News). Fitness went through the same cycle with physical gyms, online fitness (accelerated by COVID-19) and now the gamification of fitness through digital channels, often in a hybrid setting (e.g., Peloton, Strava), as did commerce with the move to e-commerce and more recently social commerce, making purchasing goods and services in a more engaging way.
We believe education, and in particular the classroom, will go through a similar evolution as physical learning environments are supported by online learning, resulting in a hybrid model whereby a “social classroom” brings the benefits of technology into the classroom to make it a more engaging space for students and teachers, whilst leveraging the same technology to scale the content to an online audience.
