Creating Safer Schools with Vivi
Is Your School Ready for Martyn’s Law?
The Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Bill, also known as Martyn’s Law, became law on the 3rd April 2025. Schools with 200+ people onsite will soon be legally required to strengthen safety procedures. With a two-year implementation period, now is the time to prepare and ensure your school community is protected.
What Martyn’s Law Means for Schools
Schools will be required to do the following to ensure they are prepared for Martyn’s Law:
- Register qualifying premises with the Security Industry Authority
- Identify a Responsible Person e.g. Headteacher
- Prepare public protection procedures which should cover evacuation, invacuation, lockdown and communication.
